Mark Piland - Former Frisco City Fire Chief Running to Serve on City Council, Place 1 👨🏻🚒

ANNOUNCEMENT
Putting Experience to Work
Mark Piland announces his candidacy for Frisco City Council Place 1
I’m excited to share that I’m officially running for Frisco City Council, Place 1 — the seat being vacated by Councilmember John Keating, who recently announced his campaign for Mayor.
Frisco is an incredible city built on strong values, innovative thinking, and active citizen involvement. As your representative, my commitment is simple: to serve with real transparency, accountability, and integrity — always putting the people of Frisco first.
Having had the privilege to serve as Frisco Fire Chief, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration, clear communication, and community trust make our city stronger. I want to continue that tradition of open and responsive leadership on City Council.
My priorities include:
Real Transparency and Accountability in every city decision
Citizen-First representation — listening to and engaging residents
Smart, Sustainable growth that preserves our quality of life
Strong public safety with staffing and infrastructure to support our future
Frisco deserves leadership that listens, explains decisions openly and keeps residents at the heart of every discussion. Together, we can ensure Frisco continues to thrive — not just for today, but for generations to come.
I look forward to connecting with you in the coming weeks as our campaign officially kicks off. Let’s keep Frisco moving forward, together.

Note From The Campaign: (Updated on 1/11/26 at 2pm)
With voting starting this WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14TH, it’s important to understand exactly who you are voting for and what they stand for and if that matches your beliefs.
I believe that the citizens of Frisco are ready for independent council members that have independent thoughts and will focus on what the citizens want and don’t just go along with what current leadership wants.
+ My opponent spoke passionately at Frisco City Council supporting the proposed Frisco Performing Arts Center.
RESULT: In May 2025, Frisco voters rejected a $160 million bond (Proposition B) and a related tax proposition (Proposition A) to fund a proposed $340 million city-owned Performing Arts Center, with 60–65% of voters opposing the project.
+ My opponent publicly supported a MASSIVE $1.08 BILLION bond package.
RESULT: In November 2024, after years of rapid expansion, Frisco ISD voters rejected the large debt, with Proposition B failing by 52% and Proposition C by over 52%.
CONCLUSION? MY opponent has not found a project she doesn't like that spends your money and that will raises your taxes!!!
+ My opponent is not supported by first responders and your next city council member must make public safety a top priority for Frisco families.
RESULT: Mark Piland has been endorsed by Denton County Sheriff and former Texas Ranger Tracy Murphree, Frisco Police Officer Association, Former Frisco Mayor Pro Tem and Texas Commision on Fire Protection Commissioner Kelly Doster and Frisco Firefighters Assocation.
+ My opponent is lacking in support from almost any local leaders, groups, or associations.
RESULT: The only public support found for my opponent is the Frisco Democratic Club.
Mark Piland has been endorsed by Frisco City Councilmen Brian Livingston, Burt Thakkur, Jared Elad, Frisco ISD Trustee Stephanie Elad, Republican Party of Texas, Collin County Republican Party, Denton County Republican Party and Denton County Commissioner Ryan Williams and many others.
